Online Gambling involves betting or playing games of chance for real money via the internet and mobile devices. It can be exciting and entertaining, but it can also lead to gambling-related problems, such as addiction. Gambling addiction can cause serious financial issues, such as debt and credit card debt, and lead to other problems, such as emotional stress and social isolation. Recognizing the symptoms of online gambling addiction can help you get the treatment and support you need.
The goal of this study was to examine current knowledge about the risk factors and protective factors of online gambling in the adult population. To do so, a literature search was performed using three different academic databases: PubMed, PsychInfo, and Scopus. The search was limited to publications published between 2010 and 2020. In terms of Population Intervention Comparison Outcome (PICO), only articles that examined the relationship between gambling and various outcomes were included.
Online gambling is a $9.5 billion per year industry, and it has experienced accelerated growth in recent years. It has been boosted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led many people to switch from physical casinos to online ones. However, gambling and gaming sites are at a high risk of fraud, with criminals collaborating to manipulate game results or exploit software vulnerabilities to steal customer data. This is why players should always choose a reputable casino that has a strong reputation in the gambling industry. In addition, players should check the license of an online casino before they deposit any money.
