(Windows) Jailbreak iPod touch 3G, 4G on 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3 using Redsn0w

Prerequisites:

  • the 4.3 or 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 or 4.3.3 IPSW firmware file for your device (if your iPod touch is on 4.3.1, then get the 4.3.1 IPSW; if your iPod touch is on 4.3, then get the 4.3 IPSW, etc.)

You can get this from the PwnMyI Firmware Guide

  • an un-jailbroken iPod touch 3G/4G on iOS 4.3 or 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 or 4.3.3
  • the latest version of iTunes installed

How to Jailbreak:

1. Download Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16.

2. Extract the archive that you just downloaded and run redsn0w.exe.

3. Click Browse and locate the iOS 4.3/4.3.1/4.3.2/4.3.3 IPSW that you downloaded earlier.

4. Redsn0w will verify that the IPSW is valid. Once this is done, click Next. Redsn0w will now prepare some data required for the jailbreak.

5. You will now be shown the jailbreak options. Make sure that Install Cydia is checked. You may optionally check Enable Battery Percentage. Click Next.

6. Make sure your iPod touch is off and plugged into your computer. Click Next.

7. Follow the on-screen instructions to put your iPod touch into DFU mode. Once your iPod touch is in DFU mode, your screen will be black. Once you have successfully put your iPod touch into DFU mode, Redsn0w will begin the jailbreak.

8. Redsn0w will upload the jailbreak data to your iPod touch. Once Redsn0w is done, you may close Redsn0w by clicking Finish. You will see some text and images appear on your iPod touch’s screen while the jailbreak is performed. Once your iPod touch has rebooted, you are jailbroken!

          You can get appsync from Cydia.

      yea, you need appsync for cracked apps to tun on your ipod, when you install installous from cydia there is a package called “APPSYNC 4.X” on the same page as installous (hackulo) download it then go to installous click “settings” then check “itunes sync” on

      close the program put the idvice of dfu and restore and before tring to jailbreak again go to redsnow’s propoties then to compatibility and selecs “windows xp service pack 2/3

      If you accidentally turned off your iPod touch or the battery drained during the jailbreak process, you should restore you iPod in iTunes, then repeat the whole jailbreak procedure.

      Of course, updating from iTunes will remove any previous jailbreak.

    This is wonderful jailbreak version.
    I used iPod ios 4.3 jailbroken by snowbreeze,
    it worked well except the tethered !!.
    I prepared 3 hours for sync my whole app again,
    then updated to ios4.3.1 and jailbreaked.

    But !!! that’s take time about 5 minutes for this procedure.
    Next,I install appsync 4.x+ before sync to computor.

    :) All of my apps are still working. And my saved game is still OK .

    Refresh the packages in Cydia. Appsync is in Cydia.

      i have refrsh but i can’t found that. not only appsync, installous i can’t found too.. what wrong with my cydia? or my jailbreak? or my firmware? i use firmware 4.3.1 download from firmware guide

        Open Cydia and go to Manage->Sources. Click Edit->Add and put in http://cydia.hackulo.us

        You should be able to search for Installous and appsync after you’ve added the new source!

    I cant find the iPod4,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw! where is it! ive downloaded it, but when i unzipped it with winrar, it comes out to a folder named firmware, some .dll files, and a quicktime file. Where do i getthe restore file? Where do i find it? please somebody give detailed instructions google doesnt have the answer please

    I use ifunbox or Cyder 2 to install Cydia apps in offline. Previous 4.2.1 ios gave me no problem but this 4.3.1 is not letting me use some Cydia apps like cydelete, activator, multicleaner etc. (I installed them in offline). Is this a problem for Redsnow?
    And also, Redsnow seems to install many cydia apps by default, is it so?

      You should use Cydia (online) to install your apps rather than the offline method because then it ensures a successful install and you get the highest chances of it working properly. Yes, I think Redsn0w does install some default Cydia apps.

      You must rename the file from .zip to .ipsw. You are not supposued to extract the .zip.

    You can update your iPod in iTunes. You don’t have to restore it.
