According to the latest research report from Distimo, Apple must be happy with the debut success of the Mac App Store. Based on the findings by Distimo – a firm that monitors information across various competing app stores – Apple is making bank on the popularity of most of the young store’s content offerings. Incredible but true, 88% of all Mac App Store apps are paid, while a scant 12% remain free.
Distimo reports that the Mac App Store has taken in in approximately $150,000 in revenue for the last month alone. Although iPad apps were responsible for drawing twice as much ($300,000), the Mac App Store is much, much newer. Not surprisingly, however, the iPhone/iPod apps were the biggest money makers, pulling in $600,000 in app sales in just the last month alone.
