Jailbreak iPod Touch 4G on iOS 4.3.4 using Redsn0w on Windows

It is highly advisable that you make a folder on your desktop to keep all the files in before starting the guide.

Requirements for this guide:

1. An iPod Touch 4G running on iOS 4.3.4

Download: Redsn0w 0.9.9b8
1525 downloads

2. Download the iOS 4.3.4 firmware for your iDevice using the PwnMyI Firmware Downloader

3. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes

Step 1: Organizing & Extracting

Organize all of the files that were just downloaded into one folder on your computer.

Next, double click on Redsn0w.zip to extract it.

Please note that if a newer version of iPod software has been released, this step will not work unless you have your SHSH backed up to your computer.

This step is not mandatory, and can be skipped.

Open up iTunes on your computer and plug your iPod in. Let iTunes backup your iPod.

Wait for iTunes to recognize your iPod then hold down the “shift” key on your keyboard and click “Restore” in iTunes.

Navigate to the firmware file that you have downloaded, and click “Choose”.

iTunes will now install a fresh copy of iOS 4.3.4 on your iPod. This process is to prevent space from being wasted on your iPod.

When your iPod is finished restoring, iTunes will give you the option to restore from a previous backup. Choose the most recent one to get all of your information back onto your iPod.

Step 3: Jailbreaking

Now it is time to jailbreak the iPod. This is extremely easy to do if you follow the directions carefully and correctly.

Open up the Redsn0w app from the Redsn0w.zip you extracted earlier.

Once Redsn0w opens, click the “Browse” button and search for the firmware file you downloaded earlier and then click “Open”.

Once Redsn0w successfully identifies the IPSW, click “Next”.

Redsn0w will then prepare your jailbreak data.

Now select which options you want for your jailbreak.

Click the “Next” button and follow the instructions that Redsn0w gives you.

Redsn0w will now give you a series of steps that will put your iPod into DFU mode. This will allow the jailbreak software to be installed onto the iPod. Follow the steps carefully.
