Jailbreak iPhone 3G on iOS 4.0.2 using Limera1n on Mac

1. An iPhone 3G running on iOS 4.0.2

Step One: Opening Limera1n

Double click the limera1n.zip file from the desktop to extract the application, then double click it to launch.

Step Two: Jailbreaking

Connect your iPhone to the computer and click the large make it ra1n button

You iPhone will now be placed in recovery mode.

Note this part is very imporatant. Make sure to hold the appropriate buttons down for the displayed amount of time. Don’t worry though, if you mess up you can start over.

Press both the power and the home buttons.

When Limera1n asks you to, release the power button.

Your phone will now be in DFU mode

As limera1n performs its exploit you will see the image of a lime raindrop on your iPhone and the program will let you know when it completes the jailbreaking process.

Step Three: Downloading Cydia

After you power back on your iPhone you will see a new icon on the SpringBoard called limera1n. Tap it to continue.

Once Limera1n opens select Cydia then press the Install button at the top right of the screen.

Once the Cydia installation has completed you must reboot your iPhone.

When your iPhone has restarted you can run Cydia.

To remove the limera1n icon from your desktop you can relaunch the app and tap the Uninstall Limera1n button or install CyDelete from Cydia then use it to delete the application.
