Get ready for an easy solution to jailbreak your PS3 for free if you own an iDevice!

People are eagerly waiting for ports to come in for the PSgroove so they don’t have to purchase a USB board. MuscleNerd, a respected iPhone hacker, and part of the iPhone Dev team has posted on his twitter that a iPhone port for PSgroove is in the works and is very close to being completed:

Honestly, from this distance it's hard to tell what's going on, but 9 to 5 Mac says we're looking at a next-gen camera-equipped iPad fielded specifically to test video calls. You may recall iPhone 4 field-test devices having a similar menu.

I guess time will tell for this one folks.

As you know, Apple introduced today iTunes 10. During the keynote I tweeted, saying that all jailbreakers and unlockers shouldnt updated right now. And everybody was asking why. The answer is simple: once your are jailbroken, you never update to new releases until the iCommunity gives you a green light. Fortunately, iTunes 10 is safe for all jailbreakers and unlockers ( DFU mode, syncing, selecting IPSW, all okay ), and it comes with the following changes:
NOTE: STAY AWAY FROM iOS 4.1 NEXT WEEK

Installous 3.3 Coming Soon!

The Installous App yet again has been updated to something even better. Every update brings new, exciting features which personally gives me goosebumps

Anyway....

Docmorelli added a new feature to the new version of Installous (version 3.3) called LocalSharing.
LocalSharing is a feature that lets you transfer cracked applications from one device to another. Imagine you're with a friend who wants to test an app you tried out. Instead of having to find it and download it, you can simply send it to them via wifi. Installous will use Bonjour to find nearby devices and share the cracked app with them if those devices accept the invite.

Installous 3.3 is currently being tested right now and will soon be released to Cydia.

We will have a copy of the new installous 3.3 on our repo

http://cydia.pwnmyi.com

As soon it is released. So get ready!

HOW TO: Watch Today’s Apple Livestream On Mac, Windows And Linux Using VLC

It was unexpected, but Apple announced that they will livestream today’s event, but there’s a catch: you can only view it on Mac, iPhone, iPad, or iPod. The reason: Apple is using a technology called HTTP Live Streaming introduced with Snow Leopard, QuickTime X and iOS 3.0. But, there is a easy way to bypass the restrictions and with VLC, a free cross-platform media player:

1. Download VLC, and install it
2. Go to File> Open Network…
3. Click on Network and copy-paste this url: http://devimages.app...prog_index.m3u8
4. Click Open
5. Enjoy

Thoughts/Updates on our method....

Hey guys I'm CodeBlue, behind all this backdown from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1 without SHSH/Blobs :P

Anyway, I'm sure you all know that this method has been misunderstood by me and my partner and many others. As quoted here from my friend BigBoss,

Quote

It seems this method is very hit-and-miss. So far, only users with 3gs have claimed it works. Personally, I am still a bit skeptical. However, there is some compelling evidence to think that there is some level of success with this. Semaphore, author of Umbrella, has written a good post saying that this method is impossible. I also originally thought that, but there’s a point in Semaphore’s post that he does not address, and this very point is what made me write this blog entry last night.

Semaphore claims that the users must have had an SHSH on file. That when they used Saurik’s server, it responded with the SHSH on file and that’s why the restore works. When CodeBlue presented this method last night, I told him the same thing. But multiple users are presented with the “make my life easier” dialog in Cydia after doing this method. Make my life easier will never appear if you already have an SHSH on file for any firmware. What people don’t realize is that once you make an SHSH request in Cydia, it’s a one-time deal for life. You are requesting SHSH on file for every firmware starting with the current one being signed. It does not matter what firmware you are currently running. If your restore worked because, as Sempahore’s post indicates, you had an SHSH on file already, then when you loaded Cydia, you would see the SHSH on file for xxxxxxx screen and you would never see the “make my life easier” screen.

All that being said, I have not personally tried this. I cannot confirm personally that it has worked. I have talked with several people that claim it has worked and many that saw “make my life easier”. At this point, either this method does work sometimes, Apple is accidentally signing 4.0.1 for 3gs intermittently, or the people claiming success are lying and did not see make my life easier.

Later on he updated his post to this:

Quote

Finally got to the bottom of this, thanks to Saurik who clarified it for me. It seems that more shsh are on file and even some of you that havent ever jailbroken and just got a new iphone may actually have an shsh on file. It’s definitely worth a try to set up Saurik’s signature server in your hosts file and try to restore that way. You may get lucky and get a downgrade even on a new device.

So bottom line, my method might work on 3GS devices if you bought it brand new from Apple, because as I was speaking with Semaphore, he told me something I didn't know which is that Apple takes refurbished devices and seals and sells them as new. Now...one part that really confuses me is that many people were able to downgrade without SHSH because as BigBoss explained how the "Make My Life Easier" works, that thing pops up when you don't have your device registered and backed up on Saurik's server. Yet people from 4.0.2 backed down on their 3GS to 4.0.1 or 4.0 and managed to get that Life Easier button. So I shall reopen this project and look more into this since this still might be a possibility. But most likely, patched or edited firmwares will not be involved for my research as for I have learned that manifests have NOTHING to do with signing and SHSH etc.

Synchronicity Lets You Use Your iPhone While It Syncs With iTunes

Synchronicity is a new application that lets you use your iPhone or iPod touch while it sync with iTunes.

Synchronicity gives you the option to use your device during an iTunes sync. Instead of being stuck at the lock screen while you transfer new content, you can unlock, run apps, make calls, etc. You can do whatever you want, except run the Music app, which is disabled during syncs to prevent data corruption.

Synchronicity works on any device with firmware 4.0 or 4.0.1 and can be purchased from the Cydia Store for $2.

Alibaba has some new screen protectors for Apple’s next round of iPods, expected to be released on Wednesday. In this particular rendering, the Nano has Wifi, though these manufacturers may only know about the screen size, if that.Posted Image

They are also advertising a case for the new iPod Nano 6, below, which bears a striking resemblance to the older Shuffles. They also have room for a 30-pin connector.

Auto3G Extends Your iPhone Battery Life By Switching 3G Off During Standby

User is offline

Auto3G extends your battery life by automatically turning off the 3G radio (leaving on the 2G radio) when you lock your iPhone and automatically turning on the 3G radio when you unlock your iPhone. This way you always have the speed of 3G when you need it without the battery loss.

As explained by Apple, this results in up to 100% greater battery life: "7 hours of talk time on 3G, 14 hours of talk time on 2G." (apple.com/batteries/iphone.html)

Auto3G can be purchased from the Cydia Store for $5.99

UndeadRevolution

Okay, I got a new 3GS today, cause mine was stolen. Upgraded it to 4.0.2
This is how i got it back to 4.0.1 without it ever being jailbroken before or backing up any shsh’s.

1. Download 4.0.1 ipsw

2. extract it with winrar to a folder on the desktop
open the buildmanifest.plist with the notepad
search and replace all – 8A306 with 8A400
save
do the same with restore.plist

3. open the original 4.0.2 thats in C:documents and settingusername*application dataapple computeritunesiphone software updates*.* with winrar/zip

4. take all the files from the 4.0.1 and move the over to the 4.0.2 zip archive that you have open.

5. delete all the dmg files that have 002 at the end, leaving only the 001 files left.

6. save

7. add the 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com line to the host file (you should know where thats at if you got this far lol)

8. put the iphone in dfu, open itunes and just let itunes do the restore with what it thinks to be a 4.0.2 ipsw

thank me if this sh…t works for ya
9. it will restore it to a brandnew 4.0.1 —> at least it did for me

Upgrade/Downgrade Firmware without SHSH or Blobs?

User is offline
CodeBlue
- 08-29-10 03:38 - 2 comments

Today I found something that the iPhone Devs told me "impossible". I also spoke with iH8Snow, telling me that this sounds impossible. He also mentioned to me and one of my beta testers that this is possible if you allowed Cydia to store your SHSH/Blobs since Cydia will cache your firmware along the way.

Well, I'm pretty sure I proved them wrong.

So the story is that I have possession of clean (never before jailbroken) iDevices, and I managed to downgrade one of them and upgrade one of them to iOS 4.0.

(Please note I will not discuss on how I did this, until I confirm this method will work for every device until further notice. But so far so good.)

iPhone 3GS (32 gig) WHITE running 4.0.2:

I managed to downgrade a fresh iPhone 3GS running 4.0.2 back down to 4.0. How you may ask? honestly, I do not know. Apple, as we all know, stopped signing the 4.0 firmwares which forced you to update your firmware to a higher version. We all know the infamous SHSH or Blobs. Cydia managed to make "your life easier" and backup your blobs along the way through your jailbreaking life. And TinyUmbrella, helps you store your blobs locally or remotely request to store or to receive your blobs.

Story is, I used TinyUmbrella (umbrella-4.01.01) and downgraded WITH NO LOCALLY STORED BLOBS ON MY COMPUTER AND NO BLOBS ON CYDIA FOR THIS DEVICE. And somehow, I managed to get back down to 4.0. Using iTunes Shift and Restore feature.

I have had another beta tester to test his iPhone 3GS with new bootrom and his iPhone was never jailbroken before and he was running 4.0.2. I gave him my steps and at first attempt failed, yet he tried once more and it was successful. He successfully jailbroke his phone also.

iPod Touch 3G MC (32 gig) running 3.1.3:

I was curious and tried my method again for this ipod touch. now this one is my best proof of all in my honest opinion. This iPod never had been jailbroken before nor has it ever seen 4.0. THIS IPOD WAS FRESH. I knew that if I wanted 4.0 firmware, Apple won't allow me because they stopped signing this, instead they will force me to 4.0.2. So I tried my method again, and first attempt failed again. So i closed iTunes, disconnected iPod Touch, turned off TSS server and rebooted the TSS server and brought up iTunes with my iPod once again plugged in.

Tried my method, and guess what.... it worked..... I avoided the signing rejection from Apple and I'm at 4.0 and jailbroken.

That being said, I want to remind you again that my desktop computer never touched an iPod or iPhone before meaning TinyUmbrella is completely new to this computer and I have no Blobs/SHSH stored on this computer or anywhere else such as Cydia AT ALL.

You heard this first from PwnMyI.com and nowhere else. I will keep you updated with my methods here only so stay tuned and register on these forums.
